タマホームプレゼンツ マイドリーム 大作戦: 第一

All the way back in April, I promised to work on translating the Japanese radio drama "My Dream Grand Strategy" into English. Well, it was one of those ambitious projects of mine that never happened... So when the chance came in my Japanese class this fall to translate something, I decided to do Episode 1 for my project. It was a lot harder that I thought and I had to get a Japanese friend to help me understand everything, although I got the gist of what was going on. It's cute, so I hope you enjoy. I have the Japanese with corresponding English below. If you see any mistake, please let me know!

ナレーター：タマホームプレゼンツ三百秒ドラマ：マイドリーム大作戦(さくせん)。第一話，女の作戦開始篇(さくせんかいしへん)。オーエルみよ。二十七歳の誕生日を過ぎて半年がすぎた。二年近付き合っているひろきとはずっと一緒にいたいと願っている。しかし、ひろきはそんなそぶりを全くにせない。みよはじゃっかん，いや、かなりあせっていた。何としてでも、二十八歳の誕生日までにひろきと結婚をきめておきたい。何としても。

Narrator:  Tama Home presents My Dream Grand Strategy(a 300 second drama). Episode 1 is the “Beginning of woman’s strategy” volume. Office Worker Miyo is half-way past her 27^th birthday. Approaching her two year anniversary with Hiroki, she hopes very much to continue together with him. But Hiroki doesn’t really reciprocate. Miyo is a little bit –no– is considerably in a hurry. But whatever it takes, by her 28^th birthday, she has made up her mind to be married to Hiroki. Whatever it takes.

みよ：ね、ひろき。週末ちょっと行きたいとこがあるんだけど。

Miyo: Hey, Hiroki. I have something I want to do next weekend.

ひろき：はい、はい。山？映画？どこでもどうぞ。

Hiroki: Yeah, ok that sounds good. Mountains? Movie? Anywhere is fine.

みよ：その日のお楽しみ。あたしもはじめてなの。

Miyo: Something fun on that day. Something I’ve started on.

ひろき：はじめてー？

Hiroki: Something you’ve started?!

みよ：ふふふふ

Miyo: Hehehehe

住宅展示場(じゅうたくてんじじょう)に

In a real estate showroom

ひろき：おいおい！住宅展示場(じゅうたくてんじじょう)！モデルハウス！何でこんなところに！

Hiroki: Wait a minute!  A housing showroom! Model house?! What are we doing in a place like this?

みよ：いやだ知らないの。今、モデルハウスデートってブームなんだよ！

Miyo: No way you would know. I’m into something now called a Model House Date!

従業員：いらっしゃいませ！

Employee: Welcome!

みよ：ほら！シミュレーションしてみて。この部屋がひろきの部屋でこっちが二人の寝室(しんしつ)で。リビングはここね。キッチンはオール電化(でんか)。子供部屋も最終(さいしゅう)からかくほしたいよね！天井(てんじょう)はやっぱ吹(ふ)き抜(ぬ)けでさ～

Miyo: Look! Let’s see if we can do a simulation. This room would be Hiroki’s, here is the master bedroom. The living room is here. The kitchen is all-electric. I want a children’s room from the start! There is a second floor as well!

ひろき：ちょ、みよ！おいで、あの、こら、お前、あの一人の世界にすぐ入るから。

Hiroki: Wait up, Miyo! Look here… well… hey! You’re going into your own little world!

みよ：なんか結婚したくなっちゃうね!

Miyo: Well, what if I’ve realized I want to get married.

ひろき：え？

Hiroki: Eh?

みよ：うそうそ。

Miyo:  No way…

ひろき：みよ！結婚って

Hiroki: Miyo! You said marriage!

みよ：じょうだんだってば！まだ私もひろきも仕事忙しいし、それどころじゃないでしょう。それに、まだまだ遊びたいん。なんか興奮しておなかすいてきた。さあ、ご飯食べか？

Miyo: I was just joking! Right now you and I are still busy with work, so we’re far from that. Besides, I still want to have fun. All this excitement makes me hungry. Come on, want to go eat?

ひろき：んんん

Hiroki: Mmmmm

みよ：ん？

Miyo: Mm?

ひろき：何持っているの。パンフレット？! いつのまに？

Hiroki: What are you carrying? A pamphlet?! Why didn’t I notice it?

みよ：さっき、営業マンの人がアンケート持って来て、答えたら、くれたの。マイホームってさ、現実味ないけど、若い内が苦労しないらしいわよ。二十代なら尚更いって。

Miyo: A while ago, a salesman was carrying a questionnaire, which if you answered, would give you one. He said although My Home doesn’t seem realistic, while we’re young it doesn’t seem as much of a  hardship. All the more so in our twenties!

ひろき：いつのまにその話までしたんだよ！

Hiroki: Before I knew and you told me that story, you had already been looking into it!

みよ：でね？お金を賢くためる方法まで伝授(でんじゅ)してくれるらしいよ。面白そうじゃない！

ダイエットもちょきんもはまったらきっと、楽しいんだよね。目的(もくてき)さえあればさ，早いと思うのよ。結婚するなら、マイホームがほしいよね！将来は！

Miyo: So? Until I found a way to sensibly save money, it would seem like you would have to tell me what to do. That’s not interesting! Through diet and savings it’s almost certainly a better fit and is fun! As long as there’s a goal, I think it’ll be quick. If we got married, I would want “My Home”! What a future that would be!

ひろき：んん。マイホーム？

Hiroki: Hm, “My Home?”

みよ：どうした？かおいろ悪いよ。

Miyo: What? You look pale!

ひろき：いいよ。考えたこともなかった話題だよ。。。

Hiroki: It’s ok. It’s just that I hadn’t thought about this topic before…

みよ：　ひろきって計画性なさすぎだよね！今時、五年ご十年ごのビジョンって当たり前だよ。だいたいさ！

Miyo: You really haven’t planned enough for your future! Right now, a five or ten year vision is reasonable! That’s generally accepted!

ひろき：分かった！ストップ！みよ、計画的(けいかくてき)すぎだっつーの

Hiroki: Ok, stop! Miyo, this is too deliberate…

みよ：なんか言った？

Miyo: Did you say something?

ひろき：なんでもないです。

Hiroki:  Never mind.

レストランに

In the restaurant

ひろき：ね、みよ。あのさ、俺たち付き合って何年だっけ？

Hiroki:  Hey, Miyo. How long have we been together?

みよ：もうじき２年だよ。何まじめな顔してんの？もしかして、さっきの気にしている。ははは。もういやだな！ばか。結婚なんてしないわよ私。まだまだやりたいことたくさんあるんだもん。それにさ、マイホームなんて手が届(とど)かない夢でしょう。まわりにもあまりいないわよ、そんな計画的なカップル。

Miyo: Pretty soon it will be 2 years. What kind of a serious face are you making? Maybe what just happened is making you worry. Hahaha. No way! Stupid. I don’t want to get married or anything like that. There are still a lot of things that I want to do. Besides, it seems to me that things like “My Home” are dreams that are hard to achieve. There are hardly any ways to go around as that sort of systematic couple.

ひろき：だよね！

Hiroki:  Right!

みよ：それに、ひろきの経済観念(けいざいかんねん)だったら、むりむり。ひろきと結婚するなんてわからないし！

Miyo: Besides, if you use your sense of economy, it’s impossible. I couldn’t understand something like marrying you!

ひろき：だよね！え？

Hiroki:  Right! Hm?

みよ：ね、ね。そんなこと忘れて、夜の映画館に行かない？

Miyo: Yeah, yeah. Forgetting that, do you want to go to the movie theater tonight?

ひろき：いいね！もあんなこと忘れて、早く行こう行こう。

Hiroki: Sounds good! Let’s forget that and go already!

みよ：あんなことって何よ？

Miyo: What is “that”?!

みよ：よし、第一作戦成功かな？だいして、モデルハウスデートで結婚へ一歩大作戦。この調子(ちょうし)で次いってみよ！ふふふふふ

Miyo: All right, my first strategy seemed like a success, didn’t it? Through the model house date, I’m one step closer to my grand strategy. Continue in this style, Miyo! Hahahaha.
